I’m a thirty-something re-rider from Eastern Canada. I work in finance and have a wonderful DH and a Boston Terrier. Both are very supportive of my riding. I took lessons and did Pony Club as a kid but stopped when I was a young teenager. I had a couple of bad jumping falls that scared me so I stopped lessons and just rode occasionally for years. At 28 I realized I needed horses in my life again and I found a lovely lesson barn, 25 minutes from my house. I started once a week Hunter/Jumper lessons in the spring of 2012, started leasing about a year later and then in July of 2013 I purchased my first horse. I struggle with anxiety that I think comes from the falls I had as a kid but I am gradually learning how to ride through it. I have a wonderful trainer who takes things slow with me and I couldn’t do it without her and my sweet horse, RB.
Wricochet, (Ricky Bobby or RB) is a 19 year old registered Oldenburg. He is by the Hanoverian stallion, WaldKoenig and out of a TB mare. He is 16.2, dark bay and the absolute love of my life. He is the perfect mix of schoolmaster with a little bit of sass. He is very sensitive and kind and super smart. He loves to jump but isn’t that into flat work. He enjoys peppermints, Stud Muffins and apples and strongly dislikes bananas and wildlife of all kinds. He’s an arena guy, cross country will never be his thing but he does enjoy hacking (unless there is random wildlife). Our long term goal is the 2’6 Hunters/Jumpers on our local circuit and maybe a rated someday. For RB this is no big deal but for his cowardly human it seems impossible.
